8 Ball Hotshots on Manchester United TV

A while back I hosted a show for MUTV.  Sharing some pool tips, tricks and hustles with some football stars from the biggest club in the world. They are a great bunch of lads, and we had a fun day filming.  The show goes out on MUTV tonight – watch it if you can!

Write up from the MUTV Website:

Four Manchester United players recently traded the training pitch for a pool table – with MUTV's cameras capturing all the action.

Reds goalkeepers Anders Lindegaard and Tomasz Kuszczak plus strikers Kiko Macheda and Mame Biram Diouf all picked up pool cues for a practice session with world trick shot champion Steve Daking, followed by a mini tournament amongst themselves.

To see the players learning how to hustle and attempting tricks, and to find out which United player is top dog at pool, watch 8-Ball Hot-Shots on MUTV at 21:00 GMT this Sunday, 22 January.

Child’s Play

Another simple shot that is used in other more elaborate shots. However, there is something elegant about the simple set-up and the way the balls find their ways into tthe pockets.  You need to do some work to get the cue ball in too!

Eye Eye!

A distinctive trickshot with a surprising ending. The set-up relies on pure physics to make it work, so take your time to get the balls in the right position before you start this trick shot

Play Away!

An unusual shot where you play away from the ball that you hit into the pocket. The idea is to play into the cushion and pot the ball on the rebound, because the balls are touching it gets a bit complicated.

The famous “Ball in the Mouth” gallery

When the new look stevedaking.com launched earlier this year, we transferred a lot of the content over to the new website, but somewhere along the way, we lost the famous “Ball in the Mouth” gallery.  This is a collection of pictures I have taken of the lucky volunteer who helps me out with a trickshot during some of my shows.  It’s all good fun!

I seem to have mislaid a big batch of the pictures, but I do have the start of the first gallery. Therefore, it gives me great pleasure to announce – Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, I give you the return of the famous “Ball in Mouth” gallery.

Clever Shunt

This was one of the first trickshots I mastered. I forgot everything about it until recently when I tried it again.  It was trickier than I remembered!  It's a shot that is easier on a snooker table or an American Pool table because of the pocket to cushion ration.  On the small English Pool table, you have to be precise with the set-up and execution to make it all happen – best of luck!
